Guru’s sexual escapades on video
THE sexual escapades of high-flying Indian spiritual guru Swami Paramahamsa Nityananda with a top South Indian actress caught on video was splashed in all Tamil dailies.
A Tamil Nadu-based private television channel had aired the video footage on Tuesday night showing the 32-year-old spiritual guru, who has a strong following in India, Malaysia and United States, purportedly embroiled in sex with the actress.
The news channel said that the guru, who has ashrams (religious centres) in several parts of Tamil Nadu and Bangalore, was believed to be involved in a clandestine affair with the actress who is currently acting in Tamil dramas.
The Nithayananda Mission is part of a worldwide movement for meditation and peace, and claims to have about 1,000 branches across 33 countries.
Makkal Osai reported that the guru had fled to Hardhiwar in North India after the scandal broke.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam was quoted as saying the branch leaders should work towards helping the people in their areas to get the necessary benefits adding, we must ensure that no Indian has been left out in getting aid.
He noted that it was the Governments policy in helping poor Malaysians irrespective of race, adding that the task of identifying and helping needy Indians was that of the branch leaders.
>Tamil Nesan also reported that the MIC Youth had presented a memorandum at the Universiti Malaya Indian Studies Department (ISD) calling for the immediate appointment of an Indian to head the department.
The paper highlighted the fact that the ISD was in the spotlight last year following a decision to appoint a non-Indian lecturer as the departments head.
