Frank passed away July 2, 2010. He was born may 24, 1931 to Frank and Helen Rogene Batty in
Bakersfield, CA. He leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Heather Diane and Warren Shearer of Tehachapi CA; son and daughter-in-law, James and Lisa Batty of Bakersfield, CA; his grandchildren, Stephen Batty, John and Trevor Geary, Mathew, Kam, Cooper, Kayleigh and Brennan Shearer. He also leaves sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Charles Hayes of Olympia, WA and brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence Beatty and Sultana Parvanta of Ojai, CA.
Frank graduated from UC Santa Barbara after which he devoted his career to education. Frank was a teacher and a career counselor for many years in Tehachapi, CA and then completed his career with 16 years at the California Youth Authority in Stockton, CA where he educated and enhanced the lives of troubled teens.
Frank was active for much of his life in the Masonic Lodge. He had a deep respect and love of animals and the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and travel. He had a generous spirit and donated to many charities. the family would like to thank Hoffmann Hospice and the staff at Glenwood Gardens skilled nursing facility for their love and devotion to Franks care. A memorial service will be held at Union Cemetery (730 Potomac Street Bakersfield, CA) on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. Memorial donations can be made to Hoffmann Hospice or Bakersfield SPCA. Frank was a loving father, grandfather and brother. He will be greatly missed. For additional service information, please contact Basham Funeral Care at 873-8200.
