New Orleans’ officials want the game to return in 2014, but Stern did not declare the city as a frontrunner although city officials have pushed league officials for two years to host the game again. Stern said after his annual state of league address Saturday night that New Orleans is in contention among other cities he declined to name.

“We have a lot of teams making investments in their buildings and they would like to have us,’’ Stern said.

New Orleans last hosted the event in 2008 and received glowing reviews from league officials. the league has not selected a host city beyond next year’s game in Los Angeles.
