1288954824 40 Water leases help Orchard City budget

Orchard City was able to lease all of its available irrigation water in 2010, Trustee Jimmie Boyd reported to the town board on Oct. 13.

Town administrator David Varley added that $4,000 in extra income was gained by the town by the water leasing in 2010.

Also, Keith Peterson, water supervisor for the town for 18 years, has left that post.

The town water plant has been kept operating with help from Project 7 personnel tasked to the town for the purpose.

City hall has been advertising for a new water supervisor and, according to the mayor, has received some promising applications. A new appointment to the post is expected soon.

During a presentation on the West Side main water line project, trustees were told that some additional costs could possibly include telemetry stations along the pipeline that would transmit real-time date on flow rates, valve positions, and other information to the treatment plant’s central data processing station.
