NBA Betting: John Wall Debuts as Wizards Visit Magic
The last two teams to debut in the 2010-11 NBA season will do so against each other on Thursday night as the Washington Wizards and 2010 no. 1 overall pick John Wall face the Orlando Magic – bet on the game on Bodog’s NBA odds.
Washington will be without its second-best player (assuming Wall is already no. 1) as shooting guard Gilbert Arenas will sit out because of an ankle injury. In fact, Arenas will miss at least the first two games with the strained tendon in his ankle. Kirk Hinrich, acquired in the offseason from Chicago, will start for Arenas, but really this means more minutes for Wall, the Bodog preseason Rookie of the Year favorite. The former Kentucky star played about 35 minutes a game in the preseason and no doubt will have to shoulder at least that much tonight with the Wizards shorthanded. Wall is probably the fastest player in the NBA with the ball. he averaged 15.7 points, 7.9 assists and 2.1 steals in seven preseason games. Should be a good matchup against Magic point guard Jameer Nelson.
As for Orlando, not many people are mentioning the Magic as title contenders despite the fact they have reached the East Finals the past two seasons. For the most part, their roster is the same from last year, although stud center Dwight Howard took some offensive lessons from Hakeem Olajuwon this offseason and thus should be better on that end. Tonight’s game is the first in Orlando’s sparkling new arena, the Amway Center.
