Sending robots into the past sounds like science fiction. It’s the basis of “Terminator” and other movie plots. But now, something called a stereo-photogrammetry robot is helping a 3,000-year-old city come …

Kinetic Electricity Sparks in a Brooding Market (OTC:NENE)

Kinetic Electricity Sparks in a Brooding Market (OTC:NENE)

I wrote positively on New Energy Technologies, Inc. (OTC:NENE) a little less than two months and there’s been some advancement in technology and a shake-up in valuation.

I’ll go to the valuation question first… when I wrote on the stock it was trading in the $2.16 range and it continued to rise in a run-up until April 2 when it hit $4.13; then it plunged off the cliff and landed at $2.04 on April 9; it since has regained some of its composure and is currently trading in the $2.30 range; up 12.75% today as of this writing. so it is within a 15 cent range of where I wrote about it in Feb.

I couldn’t find any company news that would cause such a sell-off. I did find a short-sellers article that said the sky was falling. My guess is that short sellers drove it partially up; buying low and then sold it off, selling high. the transfer agent would know. No comment from the Company publicly. in any case, I would want to know as a long-term shareholder what happened.

With that said, I still like the evolving technologies at this Company and last month NENE, a  developer of generating sustainable electricity sources said the Company and the Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory had successfully collected and transported electricity using a virtually ‘invisible’ conductive wiring system developed for NENE’s SolarWindow.

The “Invisible” wiring system transports electricity on glass windows while remaining see-through. Sunlight generating electricity. Until now, such systems used in early SolarWindow prototypes were relatively thick and bulky, and applied to glass in ways that obstructed light, prevented the absorbance of light energy necessary to produce electricity, and significantly reduced transparency.

The ‘invisible’ wiring system is especially important to the ongoing development of SolarWindow, most notably allowing for more efficient collection and transport of electrons, both important for improving circuit current and overall efficiency. A fully functional and optimized system could improve the reliability of SolarWindow by providing a stable network of connections among each of the interconnected solar cells on the see-through glass.

The other technology in development at NENE harnesses kinetic energy or rolling energy and converts it to sustainable electricity. the Company is studying roadway-based energy harvesting systems which captures kinetic energy of decelerating cars and trucks and creatively converts this captured energy to usable electricity.MotionPower is the name of the NENE product.

At toll plazas, border crossing, rest stops, highway off-ramps, and truck depots a series of mechanical treadles are depressed, converting some of the vehicle’s excess kinetic energy into sustainable, alternative, electrical energy.

A high weight, heavy-duty truck may have nearly 25 times more kinetic energy than a typical car traveling at the same speed. the translational kinetic energy of a moving vehicle is proportional to its mass and to the square of its speed; the NENE MotionPower technology is also designed to capture kinetic energy from long-haul trucks, buses, and heavy vehicles during vehicle deceleration and convert this mechanical energy to valuable electrical energy.

This is a development stage company and from what I can tell; it isn’t generating any revenues; but the technologies are advancing and are practical enough in application to perhaps one day come into their own.

I haven’t, don’t, and do not intend on holding any of the companies mentioned in this article.
