Boehner's final empty words on health care
By Yael T. Abouhalkah, Kansas City Star Editorial Page columnist
After months of championing the “Party of no,” House Minority Leader John Boehner showed he had no compelling arguments remaining Sunday night to defeat needed health care reform.
During his final House speech to try to defeat the health bill, the Republican from Ohio accused Democrats of getting ready to “to defy the will of the American people.”
He added an empty prediction: Democrats will lose their majority in the House in the fall elections.
Boehner knows only all too well that health care reform could be just the catalyst that Democrats need to show they stand with the American people.
Something has to be done to stop the spiraling cost of health care in the United States.
The Democrats are ready to take the tough steps needed to do that.
Boehner wouldn’t admit that Sunday. Shame on him.
