Amare Stoudemire has Game Winner Nailed in his Face
Paul Pierce Gets Buzzer Beater Over Amare Stoudemire
Amare Stoudemire hit 15-of-22 shots for 39 points, 10 rebounds, a steal and three blocks but his Knicks still loss to the Celtic in a heartbreaking loss where Paul Pierce hit the winner in Amare Stoudemire’s face.
Amare even buried a three at the buzzer, although he didn’t get it off in time. This makes nine straight games in the 30s for Amare, who is simply on fire. The Knicks had their eight-game winning daub snapped when a video replay of Stoudemire’s shot showed the ball was clearly still in his hands as time expired.
Pierce scored 32 points for the Celtics, who trailed most of the fourth quarter before running their record to 20-4, best in the Eastern Conference. On Friday, the Knicks get a chance to redeem themselves in a huge game when LeBron James and the Miami Heat come to Madison Square Garden.
“The Knicks have arrived,” Pierce said in a postgame television interview. “They’re going to be a force to reckon with in the division.”
