Celery sticks can be elevated by chopping together equal parts celery, carrots and jicama root, then topping with a small amount of sour cream for a cooling slaw.

Side dishes for hot wings – increasing the burn

If you love heat and want side dishes for hot wings you may want sides that make the burn hotter instead of cooling it. Start with the extra sauce for your hot wings — most bottled hot sauce recipes use cayenne or jalapeno pepper. try chopping and adding a habanero pepper to increase the heat. Drain immediately before serving.

If you want to have something on hand to help relieve the burn of hot wings, keep in mind that water will make it worse. try mixing together 2 parts cream cheese and 1 part mild peach or mango salsa for spread to be slathered on crackers, naan or baguette — it will cool the burn and provide a nice counterpoint. Jasmine rice or cooked couscous could provide a side dish or base for hot wings that will also help keep things cool. if nothing else, a few slices of good bread and a glass of milk will always help.
