Opening Thursday, River Gallery’s April exhibition “One of a Kind” showcases the drawings of Margaret Dyer and the clay sculpture of Joan Rasmussen.

Ms. Dyer combines pastels and oils in her depictions of the human figure. Friends, family members and strangers serve as models and she strives to capture them in moments of calm reflection.

Ms. Rasmussen incorporates found objects into her clay interpretations of the human form. Celebrating the unique aspects of a person, she uses croquet mallets, chimney sweepers and other objects to express just how far some people will go to stand out from the crowd.

A reception for the show will be held Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and the artists will be present.

From noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, April 4, printmaker Jay Pfeil will demonstrate her botanical etching process.

River Gallery, 400 East Second St., is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 1-5 p.m. Sunday and by appointment. Call 265-5033.
