Oscar nominee Amy Adams will be playing the role of Lois Lane opposite actor Henry Cavill in Superman.

Amy Adams has been announced to be playing Clark Kent’s love interest Lois Lane in the new Superman film.

Adams received the news from director Zack Snyder on Sunday.

Snyder said he realized Amy would be perfect for the role the minute he saw her.

Zack said of the Lois Lane casting, “there was a big, giant search for Lois. for us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”

Henry Cavill has been cast as Superman.  Other stars include Kevin Costner and Diane Lane, who will play Superman’s parents.
