The Celebrity Apprentice Q&A: Conference Call with Donald Trump, Nene Leakes, and Meat Loaf
The fourth installment of Donald Trump’s The Celebrity Apprentice promises to be the most explosive to date, with rumors already in circulation about the nasty feuds and meltdowns in store for the cast. this week, Mr. Trump participated in a Q & a session with contestants Meat Loaf and NeNe Leakes to discuss the upcoming season.
Mr. Trump began the session by praising “without question, the most volatile group we’ve had,” providing what is sure to be “great television.” Leakes, a veteran of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta, admitted to the fact that she and fellow competitor Star Jones did not get along during filming. “I don’t like phoniness,” she said. and while we can expect to see a different side- the “business side”- of her on this program, Leakes made sure to add, “I still keep it real.” Trump expressed a seemingly sincere admiration for NeNe, saying, “I think she’s fantastic. I think she’s very smart…really something special- tough and smart.” he assured her that appearing on this show will catapult her to heightened levels of fame and success, noting that The Celebrity Apprentice revived the careers of Joan Rivers, Piers Morgan, and Brett Michaels, among others. Trump emphasized that his is the only business show that’s worked on prime time television. “I’m very proud of that,” he said.
Because of the enormous success of the show, many well-known figures in the world of sports and entertainment clamor to appear as a member of the cast. “We turn down five [applicants] for every one that we take,” insisted Trump. “The show has really worked out to be a miracle show,” he marveled. “This is the best cast ever assembled on reality TV.”
Veteran rock star Meat Loaf, for his part, was pleased to take part in the game, despite the harsh shooting schedule, which left everyone exhausted at the end of each day. “I love to be challenged; I loved every moment of The Celebrity Apprentice,” he insisted. He’d forgotten, however, about the public aspect of the whole experience, which led to shock and discomfort upon being bombarded by fans in airports who’ve seen only previews and teasers thus far. Meat Loaf wouldn’t take any of it back, since he’s made lasting friends and was impressed by the diversity of the cast. though he expected not to like Survivor alumnus Richard Hatch one bit, he came away realizing that some reality show stars are not the same characters they portray on TV. “You can really judge someone by their kids,” Meat Loaf argued. “Trump is not his character. his children are great, and he’s a wonderful guy.” he added later, “Mr. Trump is literally one of the smartest people I’ve ever met.”
Both contestants stressed the fact that they learned a lot about themselves while filming the season. Leakes claims to have walked in blindly without considering strategy, telling herself, “Whatever happens, happens.” She was disappointed to experience betrayal from those to whom she displayed loyalty and trust, but she discovered her own strength as a woman in the process. “I’m very glad I did the show,” she said, noting that she “came out with new friends and enemies, but it’s okay…I’m not afraid to get in anyone’s face.” Trump reassured her once more of the impact his show will have on her career, whatever the nature of her experience. “NeNe will be a big star,” he declared. “NeNe, you’re not going to believe what’s going to happen with your life.”
Trump can hardly wait for the public to see what this current group has to offer. Making sure to mention that the drama was so intense at one point that he had to leave the room and call the police, the trigger-happy magnate referred to the current cast as both passionate and genuine. In any case, we’ll tune in for the spectacle and because of Trump’s promise that “Gary Busey is crazy.” when asked about the possibility of inviting Charlie Sheen to star in a future season, Trump responded, “Hey, crazier things have happened.” we can only dream, but this go-around promises to hold our attention until then.
This much-anticipated season of The Celebrity Apprentice debuts Sunday evening at 9pm EST/PST on NBC.
